Motherhood, Work, Childcare, Meals, Housework,Children, Husband… Oh and You. It’s a balancing act!

Wow so I’ve been busy

June 30th, 2008 by jade

See, a working Mum doesn’t even have time to post.

I am still trying to balance on the tightrope of working Mum Life.  Some days I balance better than others.

It’s holiday time and I am reasearching bulk cooking to help make my evenings a little easier so I thought it time to get back to mumspace and share my knowledge.

Tip Five: “A Spoonful of Sugar”

September 24th, 2007 by jade

Take a leaf out of MAry Poppins book and find the element of fun…

In ev’ry job that must be done There is an element of fun You find the fun and snap! The job’s a game

What I mean is grab an egg timer, or use the oven timer or alarm clock … whatever … and set a time limit with the kids to tidy up, every day or so.  Set goals, ...

Soooo Long

September 23rd, 2007 by jade

It’s been a while in between, but work and family have kept me busy.  You know the drill, hence being at this site.  It is such a tightrope every day and I am exhausted. But I am on School Holidays today, woo hoo!  Have to go into work today and pick up some stuff for next term but besides that I am free, to be just Mum, pamper myself and do some research for this ...

TGIF

August 10th, 2007 by jade

So seriously!  Thank God it’s Friday… Friday Night specifically the favourite time of this Monday to Friday working Mummy.  I have longed for it all week, and though I know I will be smothered and kissed and hugged and all kidded out (how good is that?) I am glad to be here.

Back on the Tightrope

July 27th, 2007 by jade

So I have been offline and it’s amazing how I felt sooooo isolated.  The move was exhausting but the waiting on Telstra to activate my line so internode could reconnect my broadpain… P.A.I.N.F.U.L!!!

Work has been frantic, Addie was sick so I had two days off then had to conduct parent teacher interviews with her on my lap.  I am still feeding so that was about the only thing that kept my sanity intact because she ...

Moving

July 11th, 2007 by jade

So tomorrow is settlement - I get the keys at 11.45.

My sister is painting our room and I will start moving boxes out in the afternood.  To say I am excited is… well so understated.

But while I am excited I am feeling so disorganised.  There are boxes everywhere, no plates, saucespans are packed and I still have to feed everyone, I finished reports but haven’t planned a single lesson and school is back on Monday.

*sigh*

So ...

Lower your standards

July 7th, 2007 by jade

I know.  Not usually something you suggest… but lower your standards and it can really make a difference.

Ask for help.  At work you don’t do it all.  Tasks are shared between a few or many workers.  WHy not at home.  Get the kids involved, and yes when the sweep the floor they miss a spot or too BUT LOWER YOUR STANDARDS!!! And remember it saved ou some time. Fast food is not the enemy.  Sure every ...

TIP FOUR: Build you support team

July 7th, 2007 by jade

Do you have ONE person outside your home who supports you 100 percent.  Someone who listens to your stories and reminds you what a great job you are doing.  Make time to catch up with them once a week.  By phone, by email, in person… for coffee, for dinner or just long enough to recharge your "I can do it" batteries!!
